Maker Faire 2025: Genetic-Engineering Bacteria Incubator For my Junior Year MakerFaire project, I had the pleasure of working with Phoebe Kim (again) on a Bacteria Incubator. This year, since we are taking AP Biology alongside Engineering, we decided to focus our project on recombinant DNA’s properties and potential benefits. For this, we set up a controlled lab using E. Coli and Jellyfish DNA. This lab was done in a fashion similar to that of a lab we conducted in class, with the exception that the incubator was made by us (out of recycled material). Additionally, given the cost of gene-editing through technology like CRISPR, we decided to create this experiment to demonstrate the wonders of gene-editing at a micro scale. You can see our project in depth below!!
